“Times quiet and alone, times of connectedness to the pack. Times of strength and courage when there is lack, times of sharing warmth and care.
Well-measured effort, boundless energy, listening-informed knowing, and love that is just.
I like that the Finnish words susi and sisu are anagrams one to another. Susi is wolf. Sisu is a very specific kind of courage, relentless.
Though sisu could be seen as a prideful all-to-gain fierceness, I am talking of another relentlessness, one that comes from knowing loss very well, one of having been humbled over and over again, that courage.
In Finland January is Tammikuu, the moon of “tammi” which means oak but also used to mean heart/core/nucleus.
What is planted in this heart of silence is precious, in times more fertile they appear.”
